Build of the Asus VivoBook S14
When I unboxed the laptop, The first impression were WOW! This thing is small and Brilliant choice of Metal. The laptop was Cold might be due to the weather was rainy time. I must say it was amazing build. The Asus Logo and the blue color of it was a personality for match for me and a lot of people will appreciate it.
I gave it to the friends near me to see the initial reaction, and they were like Such a small laptop also exists? Trust me on this; I had recommended the Asus Vivobook S14 some of my colleagues and friends to purchase this one with similar specs. The first thing they said was WOW! This is a small and fantastic build. I would 100 percent of the people around me loved the form factor and the Amazing body. Asus nailed it up for this device in the build section.
The hinge for opening up and closing the laptop is tuff as well as satisfying. A complete spay gray hinge almost the width of 90 percentage of the laptops width. A single hinge, which is between the motherboard and the screen, is an entirely fantastic screen. This is the hinge, which made possible the nano edge display for Asus. So a good point there as well. Also, it just weights 1.4KG, which is light as well as efficient.
The keyboard has an excellent key travel, don’t think due to the small form factor, the keys will be small. Those are entirely the same shape. The only downside is there is no dedicated Numpad at the right side of the keyboard. For a lightweight laptop, I don’t think that is the issue. The trackpad does come with the fingerprint scanner to make the most of the windows 10 available features.
Screen
14 inch Full HD Display, which has 85 percent of the screen-to-body ratio. The viewing angle is right; if you want to consume content with a group around the laptop, the 178-degree viewing angle will help. It does claim 72% sRGB colors. I will say for the everyday consumer; it will be a fantastic display to work. The right amount of Blacks and RGB calibration is not accurate.
Performance
Six core CPU Ryzen 5 4500U is something which excited me the most for the review. Specially performance. For the normal task and multi tasking over office apps and browser was amazing. I tried to put in more like adding up Photoshop work with the Chrome tabs I would say it handled it well. I tried video editing with the premier and after effects that is where the processor end up starting to lag. I will nothing on 1080p work but at 1440p or above it struggled.
If you are planning for the live stream of COD mobile or something like the game, it will handle it well due to the extra core advantage. We did try it out, and we were quite happy with the results. We had connected it to the monitor using both the screens, and it didn’t disappoint us in it. Note it is not something for massive gamers which requires a dedicated external graphics card.
Verdict
For the price of around Rs 60,000, This is the best bet for the laptop purchase. The one who needs a lightweight laptop for travel with sacrificing power is a complete win situation for office and day-to-day tasks. Asus has done a fantastic job with the cooling system and managing the power with also the small factors. Asus Vivobook S14 is our favorite Windows Ultrabook lightweight laptop of choice for 2020. If it matches your requirement, you can buy it with close eyes.
