ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE551ML Review – The Competition of Flagship

Asus zenfone is one of the line-up of the phones from Asus which were sold at the large scale namely Asus zenfone 5 , zenfone 4, zenfone 6. To update this line-up Asus came up with its Asus zenfone 2, I really don’t know what’s with the numbers maybe Asus should plan something with these confusing numbers.

The 5.5 inch 1080p display is really astonishing as well as first phone with this huge screen in Asus zenfone line up. The Asus Zenfone 2 has thin bezels which adds bit comfort and doesn’t feel holding a huge device. The Back is curved with brushed metal feel but its not metal, its plastic yet the feel of the phone is impressive. The volume button were added to the rear of the phone but power button placement was totally wrong for the 5.5 inch device. The power button was at the top. no buttons at side which really adds to easy while mounting the device on the phone holder never to worry about buttons. Headphone jack was at the top in Asus zenfone 2. Overall the build quality was good looking at the price point and the hardware. The placement of volume button did reminded me of LG G3 and LG G2.

Software of the Device

The Asus zenfone 2 comes with the usual software The ZenUI which we seen only this time with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. The lollipop version wasn’t that great all the components the ZenUI was as it which we seen in Kitkat only the notification panel was from lollipop Also the settings components were same from lollipop. No matherial design was seen nothing . The software does comes with Lot of bloatwares which really decreased the best experience that could be achieved from this device. I did had the 4GB ram edition but out 4GB, 1.9-2GB was already consumed by these existing bloatware. This is not so good for a complete newbie who doesn’t know much about android. Also Disabling would take lot of time because too many bloatware present which may not be useful for everyone. I was completely disappointed with this bloatware and software experience.

Performance of the Asus Zenfone 2

The Asus zenfone 2 is powered with Intel Z3580 (for 4GB ram) Quad Core clocked at 2.3 Ghz and Intel Z3560(for 2GB ram) Quad core 1.8GHz, PowerVR G6430 GPU same in both the case. I had the 4GB ram and 32GB internal memory one for the review as I said earlier. The performance of the device at the gaming is really impressive also amazing at the multi-tasking. I didn’t got any lags in the device and processor did handle it well. The point of heating the device gets decently heat-up which is completely ok, it only happens after intense gaming. If you talk the benchmark of asus zenfone 2 then its was about 45580 antutu which is really high at this price point.

Camera of Asus Zenfone 2

Asus when launched this phone they said a lot about the pixel master camera being good at low light. In our test the cam was good in daylight but it struggled a lot in low light condition. The 13MP rear camera wasn’t the best if it really want to compete in the flasgship race. The selfie camera was good and more important the rear volume buttons helps to capture the good selfies so it was really good point.

Battery Life

Talking of the battery life of the device. IF you game at normal, watching youtube videos, browsing web, then it would definitely last you for the day. If you watch lot of movies in my test you end up the phone getting discharge by 8 hours of continue playback which is really good. Overall I didn’t face any battery life issue it will completely last for a day.

Verdict

The Asus Zenfone 2 is the first phone with 4GB ram which is good at multitasking but at the same time it fails to give the Amazing flagship smartphone experience because of the software. I think asus must focus only on software and removing the bloatware. It was head to head comparison with Oneplus One and that phone won because of the amazing software experience. So for whom this phone is for, well this is the phone who cares a lot about good well reputed brand, good after sales service the person who look into this factors should definitely buy The Asus Zenfone 2.
