Asus Zenfone 3 Max review – The battery beast has become much better overall

Asus Zenfone 3 Max

Asus entered the with Zenfone family in the Indian market, was a great move and they did well too. Iteration of the Zenfone has always shown tremendous upgrade and refinement from the predecessors. Similarly, we have seen Asus Zenfone Max earlier. A phone with massive battery also might charge another phone with juice remaining for itself.  The concept hasn’t changed, but rest all has changed. Yeah, I mean everything. Internally and externally which you might think was this the same phone?  Nothing points out the difference or inspired from earlier generations; it has got an entirely different and astonishing revamp which I didn’t expect. After reviewing the Asus Zenfone 3, I thought possibly the max wouldn’t be making a high on my list, but I was totally wrong about my thinking. The first thing if I ever notice in the device after picking it up was the aluminium back. I think it would have been great to see the same in the Zenfone 3 also as it’s predecessor Asus Zenfone 2. Asus Zenfone Max had it. The top and bottom part are of plastic for network purpose which is good. I didn’t expect it as even the most sold phone in this segment has it? A camera with dual LED flash and laser autofocus and fingerprint sensor. Yes, all at the same price with the massive battery. Also, packs in Mediatek Quad core processor with Mali T720 GPU. Not my favourite processor inside but things could be compromised accordingly what it offers at such pricing.

Software

I mentioned in the Zenfone 3 review itself. The ZenUI is now much refined regarding the software experience. The statement has not changed in this case also. I don’t know about the updates, but Asus should make sure of the updates to all of its device. In flagships at least there are many upgrades. Don’t worry even in Asus Zenfone 3 Max has got updates in my term of use. The OS still has lots of bloatware few of them can uninstall like puffin browser, TripAdvisor. Some of the main apps like DoItLater, Mini Movie are only for disable. Only those who are on play store can uninstall. If you had been to this Asus Ecosystem from the start, you would definitely be able to jump and get used to it much easily. I can say you will love the refined and much stable os now.

Performance of Asus Zenfone 3 Max

Asus Zenfone Max always didn’t had a great performance but as I said earlier everything has changed both inside out and in this segment it showcased very impressive improvement. Right now I won’t say it’s the best for gaming but It’s good at it. Slight heating issue was noticed but device tends to perform well. Will definitely show you the benchmarks below and you would get a idea. I tested out asphalt 8 at high settings I noticed few frame drops and similar was the case with Nova. Yet at medium settings those were extremely playable.

Camera

I was surprised to see the Laser Auto Focus in Zenfone Max, That distinguish out the line-up. I thought Maybe kind of Max + laser after that I came to know still Asus has a Zenfone Laser variant different. In day light It perform well, The colour saturation was at OK side but when It changes to artificial and low light it tends to struggle a lot. Yet the snappy UI lets you to take advantage of the every mode you have. At this price point hardly a stock camera app will let you customize with modes so much.

Verdict

The phone with a great battery life and which could literally charge up other. It does the job what it’s meant too. I am not expecting a overall awesome device but here there are lot’s of companies try to take there stake. Asus Can do better. From the previous iteration they have improved a lot and further they will definitely do much better.
